The most popular water sports areas in Bratislava are located north-east of the city. Zlate Piesky (Golden Sands) and Senec Sunny Lakes are both easily accessible from all Bratislava’s main hotels, and half-day water-sports extravaganzas there can make for an enjoyable component in an incentive event, providing a good balance to cultural-heritage activities and the excellent local gastronomy on offer.
The Gabcikovo Dam is one of the largest power plants on the Danube River. The Cunovo rafting area was established during construction of the hydroelectric scheme, in an artificial channel that supplies water to the old course of the river. It was purpose-built to provide excellent conditions for white-water rafting; water flow and channel conditions can be adjusted to suit all ability levels. After rafting, guests can relax at the nearby Danubiana Meulensteen Art Museum, an architecturally attractive building and art space located on the scenic Danube River embankment.
