This Tatra Mountains excursion and tour leads through one of the most spectacular corners of Europe, Zamagurie. Surrounded by ore-rich mountains, Banska Stiavnica was for centuries the centre of one the most important mining regions in Europe. The mining industry here declined long ago, but the sleepy little town itself retained much of the unique architectural charm that won it a spot on the UNESCO World Heritage List. Visit former mines and an open-air-museum where you can learn about the rich technical heritage of this region.
